Geraldine Dowling

Deputy Chair

Dr Geraldine M. Dowling SFHEA  has 20+ years experience in analytical method development, method validation, laboratory accreditation, ISO/IEC 17025, laboratory quality management systems across disciplines for analysis of alcohol, drugs, poisons and interpretation of analytical findings to support investigations involving sudden or unexplained death, driving under influence of drugs (DUID), drug-facilitated sexual assault (DFSA) and new psychoactive substances.

Dr Dowling works at Atlantic Technological University, (Ireland) teaching Forensic Science, Analytical/Forensic/Clinical Toxicology. She serves as a Principal Investigator and Consultant. She is also a Visiting Professor at National University of La Plata, (Argentina) and Visiting Senior Lecturer at King’s College London and Honorary  Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London (UK).

She has a MSc and PhD in Analytical Toxicology and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), recognized for excellence in teaching, research and leadership within higher education serving across disciplines.

Dr Dowling has an interest in sharing knowledge. She holds/held multiple leadership roles in forensic toxicology as Irish regional representative for TIAFT, UKIAFT Vice Chair/ Treasurer, SOFT, LTG, board member of International Alliance of Clinical and Forensic Toxicologists (IACFT) and creator of first Global MOOC in Forensic Toxicology utilizing universal design for learning pedagogy to develop inclusive continuing professional development opportunities.
